Day 6 Competitor Update
Good morning everyone
Just two more days to go at Learning & Skills Solutions Pyefleet Week 2017 and today it’s Brightlingsea Boat Park & Ride Family Friday (all members are very welcome to join us regardless of whether they are racing in the week or not)! The sun is back at last and we have a terrific day lined up for you. Here’s today’s quick round up of what is happening:
We are keen to receive any photos you might be willing to share with us of this year’s regatta. If you have photos you would be happy for us to post and use in press reports please email me on firstname.lastname@example.org or speak with me at the club.
It’s the penultimate race of the series for everybody today and with virtually all classes still to be decided the tension is mounting. Just to add to that tension, last night the protest committee met to deliberate on a protest lodged in regard to the way in which race 3 of the series was finish for the afternoon group.
Well done to everyone for pulling together to ensure the rescue boats, galley and table/chair roster have been manned. There are just a few more slots to fill today and tomorrow so please volunteer if you can.
Not only is the sun back today but the wind has swung back into the south west with 8-10 mph this morning building with the sea breeze to 14 to 20 mph this afternoon, but the temperatures are going back up to a much more balmy 21 degrees!
Thanks to Tania Bines and her team and the Laser Fleet for last night’s delicious curry. It was a lovely relaxed evening and just what everyone needed after the excesses of Big Wednesday.
Today it’s all about the kids and families. This afternoon Marcel the Magician will be with us performing live magic and with lots of fun activities for kids of all ages and from 6pm we have Burgers and Hot Dogs on the beach and live music from the lovely Leah Sanchez (apologies for the error in yesterday’s message where we accidentally said Leah was performing last night).
Don’t forget that tomorrow we have jacket potatoes on the go from 6pm, the Final Prize Giving will be at 7pm and then its time to dance the regatta out to the Steve Linton Band so join us for one final hurrah.
Today’s sponsors truly are one of our most dedicated sponsors. Not only were Brightlingsea Boat Park & Ride the very first of our sponsors to step forward and support the regatta financially, but Chairman Nick Readings, his wife Pam and their family and friends led by Graham Chasney bring two rescue boats out every day to provide additional support for the Brightlingsea One Design Fleet. So far we haven’t needed to put Nick’s big RIB which carries the special high volume water pump to the test this week, but its very reassuring to know they are there!
That’s all for today folks, have a great day on the water and enjoy the magic!
