Pyefleet Week 2020 - Alternative Activities
Sadly the Covid-19 social distancing restrictions make it impossible for us to hold Pyefleet Week 2020 in the traditional format and as an open event. Instead BSC club members are invited to take part in four days of alternative water based activities between Wednesday 5 and Saturday 8 August, with Sunday 9 August earmarked as a possible reserve day should bad weather prevent racing on the other days.
For those who would like to get afloat with patrol boat support but who prefer not to race there will be Supported Sailing sessions on Wednesday 5, Thursday 6 and Saturday 8 August from 10.30 to 12.30.
For those who would like to race there will be Class Racing on Wednesday 5, Thursday 6 and Saturday 8 August starting at 14.00. On Friday 7 August there will be a Pursuit Race also starting at 14.00.
There will also be a special Time Trial Race which is particularly designed to appeal to those who prefer not to come to the club during busy periods. A set course will be published and participants will be asked to complete the course at a time of their choosing between Wednesday 5 and Sunday 9 August and to submit their boat details and start and finish times by email.
These events will only be open to club members who are asked to observe government and club social distancing requirements. Please note that although the disabled toilet will be available for members it will not currently be possible for the club to provide changing facilities, unless there is a change to the government guidelines.
Sadly it will not be possible to provide a social programme for the regatta, however, the Beachbox Cafe will be open daily providing teas, coffees, soft drinks and light snacks.
