A full social programme is planned for the championships, and for those travelling with the competitors but not going afloat there's also plenty to do during the day.

BSC's bar/cafe will be open from noon on Wednesday to welcome the competitors. Throughout the regatta it will be serving hot and cold drinks and light snacks from 10am until late. From Thursday to Sunday, breakfasts will be available from the galley each morning from 8am.

On Thursday evening we look forward to formally welcoming the competitors and their friends and families at the Commodore's Reception at 7pm, which will feature a light buffet supper, the daily prize givings and entertainment. Prior to that at 6pm the Fireball Class will be holding it's Open Forum in the club's upstairs lounge.

On Friday afternoon and evening BSC will be hosting its Big BSC Jubilee Beach BBQ & Party, which will be open to both members and competitors. With traditional children's entertainment, the barbie on the go, beers and wines flowing, bunting galore and a chilled summer sound track this will be the perfect laid back way to say Congratulations to Her Majesty The Queen. Everyone is welcome to join in the fun and BBQ tickets can be purchase at registration or on the day. The daily prizes will be presented as soon as possible after racing that evening and at 6pm the Contenders will hold their AGM in the upstairs lounge.

On Saturday night we invite you to join us for the Championship Gala Dinner from 7pm. A two course dinner will be followed by speeches and the daily prize giving plus live music and dancing with legendary local R&B band Sax and the Voice. Prior to the dinner the Fireball class will hold its AGM in the upstairs lounge at 6.30pm. Competitor tickets for the dinner are included in the entry fee and additional guest tickets can be purchased at registration

And as if that wasn't enough fun already, there will be a free beer or soft drink waiting for you on arrival at the top of the ramp each day after racing.

For those accompanying the sailors but not planning to go afloat Brightlingsea and North Essex offer a wonderful traditional holiday destination with lots to do for all the family. The club has its own beach on the doorstep and just a few yards along the beach hut lined Promenade is Brightlingsea's Lido, which celebrates its 90th birthday this year. The town centre features some great independent shops, cafes, bars and restaurants, including the very popular ice cream parlour and a new traditional toy shop. We have a fantastic new Museum which also offers a guided town walk, you can go crabbing from the town jetty and there's even a seawater paddling pool for the tinies and a boating lake. There will be a number of special events taking place in the town over the Jubilee Weekend too, with much of the activity focused on the Promenade just a short walk from the club.

Brightlingsea Harbour and the River Colne are stunningly beautiful sites of special scientific interest and the Harbour run regular tours and ferry trips. There's even a special Lunch Trip which takes you up the pretty River Colne to Wivenhoe and back and includes a meal at Wivenhoe's historic Black Buoy Inn.

Just a short car drive away you have the delights of historic Colchester with its Roman Castle, medieval Dutch Quarter and world renowned Colchester Zoo. The famous Beth Chatto Gardens in Elmstead Market are a wonderful place to while away a couple of hours and there's a delightful cafe there too . Also close at hand are Dedham and Constable country, the traditional seaside delights of Clacton-on-Sea with its amusements filled pier, Walton-on-the-Naze, Frinton-on-Sea and historic Harwich.
